    Mayor Tony HarpEnd-of-May Highlights Described: Slowly and surely, New Haven is taking on a decidedly summer feel. As we march through May college students are packing up and going elsewhere for the summer, city parks are ablaze with beautiful scenery and seasonal activity, and many local restaurants have now set up outdoor seating for more casual dining.

    This weekend includes Memorial Day – on Monday, May 25 – when those who gave their lives in military service to this nation are honored. The city’s Veteran’s Affairs Advisory Committee has planned a full day of remembrances on Sunday, May 24:

    • At 1:00 p.m. there will be a ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Long Wharf. Commander Kurt Stronach, the Executive Officer at Naval Submarine Base New London will be the guest speaker.
